Venetian Bay Volleyball Club has been in existence since 1998. This will mark our 14th season. Venetian Bay Volleyball Club has been under the same management, producing a consistent level of high quality teams each year. Many of the coaches are former Venetian Bay members who were trained with the same philosophy and have taken their experience from their collegiate playing days and would now like to share that wealth of experience to their players. We have done everything to keep club costs down.

Who: Our Coaches have experience at the collegiate and high school level. We are the only staff in this area who has won state championships in Florida. All of our coaches have previous coaching experience and have received certification from the Florida Region and/or USA Volleyball. Many of our coaches are from successful area high school programs and are former collegiate players. Brian Wheatley, the Club Director, is the only coach in the area to not have one but two state championships under his belt. He is from California and has brought a west coast mentality and a unique style of training to the state of Florida. Players will be taught the same fundamentals and techniques that have put the Venice High School team in the National rankings the last 4 out of 5 years. Also, Venetian Bay teams have not lost to any area clubs in the open divisions in the last 5 years.

Our players come from throughout Sarasota, Charlotte and Lee County.

Where: Practices are held in the Venice/Nokomis area.

When: Teams that compete in state tournament practice twice a week for 2 hours (per session). Elite Teams (which compete out of state) practice 3 times a week for 2 hours (per session). Practices and competitions for all teams begin in December '08 and go through end of April. Teams that qualify for the USA Junior Olympic Volleyball Championships will continue through late June/early July.

How Many: Roster sizes vary usually consisting of between 9 and 11 athletes.

Multi Sport: A large number of VBVBC members participate in more than one sport, especially in the younger age divisions.

Teams: VBVBC carries around 8-10 teams a year in age divisions from 12 and under through 18 and under. We are preparing for the following club teams: 12s, 13s, 14s, 15s, 16s, 17s, and 18s. The 18s team will depend entirely on if we will have a competitive squad.

Tournaments: Younger teams play locally, 14 and over teams play throughout Florida and the elite teams play throughout Florida as well as out of state. We also play in the Florida Power League Tournament in Orlando. Last year we went to Baltimore and Denver.

Venetian Bay will once again be a part of the elite Florida Power League. The top 8 volleyball clubs in the Florida Region have come together to form the Power League. The Power League provides the top teams in the state a place in which they can compete at a high level and compete against each other. Each Power League tournament is a one day tournament in which each club plays 4 matches. This provides better competition then going to a 2 day tournament. Venetian Bay is one of the 8 programs in the state invited to be in the Power League. The other clubs in Power League include: USA South, Tampa United, Gainesville Juniors, Jacksonville Juniors, Pinellas Heat, Boomers, and Orlando Volleyball Academy

Travel: All in-state travel fees are included in the club costs for the 14's and up. Parents are responsible for getting players to and from practices and in state tournaments.

Cost: We guarantee that our prices will be lowest in Sarasota County. We strive to offer the best training for the best value.

Payment: We have set up a paypal account this year which will allow you to pay with your credit card if you prefer. 50% will be due soon after tryouts, the balance will be due in late Jan 2011.
