Expert Instructional Volleyball and Strength Camp

The 3 day camp will focus on skills, strategies, drills, hints, and tips for becoming a better volleyball athlete in conjunction with strength training applicable to volleyball.

We may offer the camp on two different dates depending on response. The online form below will give you an option to choose your preference either Camp 1 or 2 or both.

Age: We will be splitting the groups by age then skill level. (Middle School and High School)
Class Size: @ 20 students
Duration:  Three session of 3 hours
Time : TBD based upon available gym time

Place:  Sarasota - Gym TBD -  The beach is Siesta Key by the volleyball courts.

College Prep/Elite Camp: (High School athletes ONLY) is designed to take your game to the next level while exposing you to the daily training system of an NCAA Division I program. This camp is limited to 20 students

Middle School to Club Ball Camp: (Middle School - 6th - 8th ONLY) is designed to take your game and individual skills to the next level.  This camp is limited to 20 students

This will be a serious camp for serious Volleyball players. This will be three days of intense, specific skill-enhancing training. You are guaranteed to be in small groups with no more than a 10:1 athlete to court coach ratio. Your daily training will include personal film footage. There will be sign up sheet to come in early or stay after practice to review and analyze with a coach.

WHAT WILL MAKE THIS CAMP SPECIAL?

  • 10 athletes to 1 court coach ratio!
  • One of the two days athletes will be separated into mini groups by athletes specialty: Attacking Clinic, Libero Clinic, and Setter clinic.
  • Video analysis - review and analyze with a coach after practice.
  • Beach Day: learn the importance of ball control, and the knowledge of becoming an all around player. College coach’s look for athletes that can play multiple positions. The beach game will increase your chance of becoming that player.
  • Learn the secrets from Vern Gambeta about strength training, Sports Psychology and hear first hand the important topics that athletes need to know.
  • 9 hours of feedback. We are not drilling, we are training!

Strength Training Applicable to Volleyball

Vern Gambetta will lead the strength training portion of the camp. Coach Gambetta will start each session with a mini seminar around 15 minutes catered to the age of the audience. These topics could include the following: ACL Prevention and Rehabilitation, Developing sport specific speed, Training the Young Developing Athlete, Plyometric Training for Performance and Rehab.   Parents are encouraged to come and listen.   If parents are unable to attend the mini seminars they will be available online for viewing.      Coach Gamebetta will work with the athletes in regards to fitness training, strength conditioning and proper mechanics at each session around 30 minutes.

Volleyball Training

Coach Megan Wallin: Is a native of Sarasota, Florida and graduate of Cardinal Mooney high school where she lettered in three sports. She graduated as senior class president and was voted athlete of the year in the state of Florida, 2001. She graduated from Michigan State University, where she competed on the varsity volleyball team under a full scholarship. Megan was selected captain and most outstanding player by her teammates in both her junior and senior years. In addition, she was selected as Academic All-Big Ten scholar athlete four consecutive years. Megan has two full time professions:  professional beach volleyball player, and publisher of SpikeKey Beach, a beach volleyball magazine. Coach Chara Harris: Chara is originally from Michigan. She graduated from Grand Valley State in 2003 and moved down to Florida with her husband Scott Harris to pursue her dream of playing professional beach volleyball.  Chara was recently inducted into the Grand Valley State Hall of Fame for her outstanding achievements on the volleyball court. Chara was an outside hitter and primary passer.  Her expertise is in defensive, shot making and strategy.  Chara also holds two professions: professional beach volleyball player and biology teacher a Venice High School. College Volleyball in your Future

Coach Whitney Erb-Elam will educate the campers and parents on what college coach's are looking for in athletes. She will also be giving tips to aspiring athletes whom are interested in competing in college. Whitney will design a few sessions that mirror what a college practice would be run like. There will also be a Q & A with Coach Whitney . Parents are encouraged to come and listen. If parents are unable to attend the Q & A will be available online for viewing.

Coach Whitney Erb-Elam is a native of Sarasota, Florida and graduate of Sarasota high school where she lettered in two sports. She also played for Whitesands volleyball club during her high school career. She was a three-time All-Area Selection and helped her team win the regional championship in 2000 to place 11th at the nationals that year. Whitney is a 2005 graduate of the University of Montevallo (Ala.), she was a four-year member of the Lady Falcon squad. Whitney is currently the head volleyball coach at Union College, the Lady Bulldogs. Whitney captured the first-ever Appalachian Athletic Conference regular-season championship in 2007. In 2005 she previously coached at NCAA Division I Seton Hall (N.J.) University. As a member of the Pirates' staff, the team posted a 16-14 overall record in 2006. She has also coached the Cut Shot, Birmingham and Alabama Junior Volleyball clubs. She also traveled with the Bring It Promotions International Volleyball Juniors Summer Tour to Austria, Italy and Crotia in 2003 and 2004, and to Greece in 2007. In June of 2008, she coached a club in Nicaragua.
